700R4 - 3rd Gear Shutter
I have a shudder / hesitation when my car is in 3rd gear. Tranny is an Auto -700R4 - non electronic. On the HWY in OD it is fine... same as in 1st and 2nd.
It does not seem to be a fuel issue.... idle and throttle response is fine. Fuel filter has less than 300 miles on it.
Anyone got any ideas?

My car behaved similiar to this when the torque converter clutch was locking/unlocking in succession, at the wrong time.
I had some frayed insulation around the wiring inside the trans pan, I took off the harness, heat shrinked the bad piece of wiring & it was fine.
You can diagnose for TQ lockup clutch problems by unplugging he the harness from the trans. If it drives fine (just with no lockup) , there's your problem (could be solenoid/pressure switch/wiring or TQ clutch itself). Sometimes the trans pump itself I think but that usually causes other shifting problems as well.
