I'm running the stock 275/40-17's all four corners. I'm considering the following tires from http://www.tirerack.com and would appreciate feed back from anyone that has run any of them:
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS
Goodyear Eagle GS-C
Goodyear Eagle HP Ultra Plus
Kumho ECSTA Supra 712
Sumitomo HTR Z
Yokohama AVS ES 100
I'm also open to anyother feedback, if you've run other tires that you thought were exceptional let me know.
i don't really race my car maybe just off the line and top speed, but not that crazily in the corners anymore, therefore i opted to spend less and got the kumho's , they're ok , i like them can't really complain, but then again , it's my driving style i based my purchase on. my .02 cents
Hi,
The eagle F1s are great tires. You'd be very happy with them.
The kumhos are good tires. A little harder than the goodyear, but the price is great. Plus they have a nice rotation schedule built into the tire. Very helpful for prolonging the tire life. If you drive very very spireted, I would not recommend these tires, but they are good fairly aggressive driving. (I had them on my Porsche and chased motorcycles through the mountains (they hate it when a 4 wheel can keep up with them))
Never tried the sumitomo
Yokohamas are a good tire, but you need to wear them in a bit before they really show you their stuff.
You might also want to considder the Bridgestone SO3 pole position or Michelin Pilot Sports. These are the best street rubber you can buy. But their price reflects that.
91vert, I just put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my 91 vert and they are awesome!! I cant even get the car to break loose now. I had Goodyear GSC's on the car previously and it took all I could muster to keep the car going straight when I got into some curvy situations. I paid dearly for Michelins (about $1100.00) but it will more than likely be the last tires I put on the car.
i'd say buy the yokohama es100, out of what you listed it offers the best mix handling/life/rain performance. it's also the latest deign of the bunch, the only problem is they haven't released a 275 40 17 yet, the kuhmo would be my second choice as they offer GREAT rain performance and as good or slightly better dry performance than the goodyear F1 gs. the other tires you listed plain suck...save some $$ and try the kuhmo 712, if you drive mostly dry roads you'd love yokohamas A520 & it will beat down the kuhmo in responce and all out G's however they don't offer the rain performance the kuhmo does. both are $120-140 tires.
