Default Stalling issues

I have a 1996, when I washed the engine it would not start until the next day. I just drove it in the rain and it kept stalling out, has anyone else had this problem? I just changed the fuel pump and the gas is fresh. Sound like something is getting wet and causing these issues.

If you really washed down the engine....you probably screwed the opti. Should not have done that. Big $$ to replace.

IF you can get it dry, it may end up working.

Opti is at front of the block with all the spark plug wires coming from it.

It works fine now just when it gets wet it stalls out. How much does it cost to replace?

Friend had her 94 done at a good local shop and it was $1900 which also included a new coolant pump. It is recommended that you replace the pump when you replace the Opti.

Opti Spark ...Summit Racing lists the MSD at $496 and these is some question as to the reliability of this unit.

AC Delco water pump thru RockAuto is about $100.

Default 1996 Corvette

I have owned my 1996 since it was new and never washed the engine. Have driven through some heavy rain storms, only a couple in all the years and had to engine problems. The 1996 Corvettes have a vented opti that actually is connected the engine vacuum system and has air circulation through the opti to remove moisture, perhaps with more engine running time it will cure itself.
I believe the vacuum air through the opti started in 1995.
