I was filling up last night and the like 96 pos mustang with all mufflers come by and starts revving it up in front of my friends. Right now i have my new 383 500+ hp and i am like this guy has to be nuts, but i looked at my od and my motor only has 258 miles on it so i had to swollow my pride and let him go without being imbarrsed this time. 242 more to go :yesnod:
Patience Grasshopper, your time will come and so will his. You might have made some poor little punks night. He probably went back to school the next day saying " Yeah, and then I revved it up and the guy in the Vette as afraid of my hood scoop, big tach and flowmasters? Man I'm cool!". Or something like that, but you get the picture. :smash: :seeya
And when you finally line up with this witless individual you will feel better why? Actually, he wins no matter what - I've met others like him who feel they are a street king if you feel theatened enough to need to actaully race them. Even when you smoke him he'll still brag about it: "yeah, this Vette HAD to prove himself against me with his wildly modded car against my stocker". You can't win in the street, I've always seen more exciting drag racing at the dragstrip. Street racing is more about attitude and game playing.
these mustang guys always win in their stories anyways. you would have kicked his butt and after you pulled in yur driveway, he would have flew by saying he wasted you top end. you never win against these guys.

Re: ***MUSTANG INCIDENT*** (republicanhunk)
Ive got a guy at work who has a 86 5.0 and is the most oncfident person I have ever met about how fast his car is. Every single day he talks poopie asking me if im keeping "his" vette clean and stuff (he wants to race for pink slips). Oh the joy of not having to prove your faster but knowing it anyway.
God I hate 80s rustangs, or whatever years they all looked like ugly boxes. I don't care if you can make them run 8s at 150mph, I still think they look like crap. My personal opinion of course :blueangel:
Guys, as much as I like the Vette, the late model Mustang performance aftermarket is at least 10 times the size of the Corvette/ Camaro/ Firebird performance aftermarket. Say what you want about looks or any of the other qualities of the Vette vs the Mustang, but I would say that the Mustang flat out offers more performance/acceleration bang for the total bucks invested - of course a part of that is the lower initial buy in cost of the Mustang.
Take a look at any of the late model Mustang monthly magazines, they are huge beyond belief, cram packed with performance parts ads. Really, in my opinion, an awful lot of the resurgence of performance in cars from the late '70's onward is due to the Mustang - like it or not.

258 miles......and you can't even spank a pudstaing yet? What ya waitin' for? If you built that small block right, all you have to do is run it long enough to adjust the valves, set the timing, check for leaks, and button up the hood!!! Waiting 500 miles is a good idea for your first oil change, but for standing on it? NO WAY!!! When engine shops build a new motor, and dyno it, do they wait 500 miles? NOPE! At the drag strip when the big boys "freshen up" between rounds? NO TIME FOR BREAK IN!!! When the stock car guys get a new motor? NO WAY! Don't be afraid, build it run it!!! Let the "BOB'S"(Blue Oval Boys) worry about break in, they are used to breakin'!!!! And yeah, they got lots of "goodies" for those "pudstaing and mercury "debri's", but no matter what they do to 'em, or what color they paint'em, the are still fords!!!! :yesnod:
