I've never really thought about swapping out my torque converter, until I pulled the engine out....... Now it's just sitting there...
Basically stock '88 coupe, planning on a basically stock engine rebuild: Keeping the stock TPI system, maybe a bit of a cam upgrade, roller rockers, etc. Probably will go with a dual exhaust system, sans cats. The converter in the car is the rebuilt one that the trans shop installed when the transmission was overhauled about a year-and-a-half ago. Would I get a big SOTP gain by going with an aftermarket converter? I don't race my car, but I'm always looking gains where I can get them.
I also have an LS1 Camaro (six speed, though) and I know the LS1 auto guys swear by converter swaps. How much benefit would I get on my low-revving L98, with 3.07's? How much money would I have to spend?
