Need guidance: 96 collectors addition/LT1 w/auto trans.

Times will vary in the quarter mile by plus or minus 3 hundredth of a
second. Appears to be random as to when it occurs. At first it seemed
to change with the temp and humidity. ex temp and humidity goes up
the car slows down, temp and humidity goes down the car runs faster.

today the temp and humidity between runs went way up and the car
actually ran quicker.

I am currently launching off idle. Any suggestions out there?

Have you been monitoring your iat. Fuel injected engines are very sensitive to intake air temperature changes. Comparing time slips, did the difference in 60' times account for the variance? 2 hundredths is not that bad. Did the DA change between the runs?

2 hundreds I can live with, but today for example the temp went up
4 degrees and the car ran 3 hundreds quicker-not slower. and it was
reflected in the 60 foot time.

in the past with very little change in temp it has run as much as
4 hundreds either way. I use a basic temp/humidity gauge and
my friend has a one of those high tech weather stations. We have
compared the two and there is very little if no difference in readings.

Is it possible that I have a traction problem? Think I will sit down
tomorrow with all my slips from the last four races.

Appreciate your input Putz

A 60ft variation is most likely related to traction. Make sure you stage the same every time and then look at what could be causing the 60 ft change.

We will be down for the next three weeks - next points race 7/11/15.
So I think that I need to go to a test and tune.

As far a staging the same, I do, but having street tires I go through
the water box and do a very light burn out. I also practice what has
been refered to as bump an inch. So that I just barely turn on the
stage light.

A thought though, I wonder is these massive 255 front tires are carrying
some water and laying it down in front of the rear tires????

Question #2 fuel injection is apparently very sensitive to temp.

I don't care about more horse power, I want to be consistent.

Will a throttle body by pass tube yield more consistency?

Will a MAF housing of nylon instead of aluminum yield more
consistency ?

Both of these items will give slight gains in horse power and torque,
but what about consistency?????

Thanks for all of your Help Pr. Putz
