OK, this is an annoying problem. Sometimes when I insert the ignition key, turn to on, the Security light stays on and the engine will not crank... I know alittle about VATS and the problems that can be caused by the key resistor not being read properly but this is different in that it eventually will crank if I get out and come back 10 minutes or so later and try again. When it will not start I have tired the backup key without success.... Before I do the easiest thing to deal with VATS, install the inline resistor bypass, I have a question about another issue I have noticed lately that I am not sure can cause a Security problem ..... Sometimes when I open the drivers door the courtesy lights do not come on or they come on after about 5 or 10 seconds.... When that happens if I jiggle the door switch I can get them to come on ..... I am not sure if that condition was present every time I had the No Crank problem, but I am sure it happened once.... Question, is the door ajar signal to the CCM part of the Security coding that can disable the starter ????? Remember, I have always been able to get the car started by getting out and back in,,,, and I have been waiting a few minutes in between ...... Weird intermittent problem !!!! Happy 4th !!!!!
Were you able to try to read any of the codes. Do the interior lights come in when you open the passenger door? Also, when you mentioned "jiggling the door switch" are you talking about the door key or the small plunger on the door?
