Just trying to diagnose a hard starting alternative. I tried to go to Racetronix but no phone. Called Walbro but there is only 1 guy there and not sure if he is at work today but voice mail, aka phone tag.
Problem is I wanted to know why my fuel pressure is dropping after shutdown more rapidly. Thought it might be the FPR and got it changed to a Kirban unit to test. Same issue. Thankfully that was a freebie to me. What I need to know is whether the 255LPH pump has a check valve to prevent flowback or not.
Option 1: Call a vendor. WTF!! I paid Racetronix and now I have to ask someone else for help? Does that someone know the pump I have?
Option 2: Called Walbro but there is only 1 guy and not sure where he is so we might have to play phone tag.
Option 3: Hopefully someone has the HSR with the stock FPR or Kirban unit to see if they have the same thing and they also need to have a Walbro pump.
So, if I have to change the pump, I'd rather NOT do business with a company that cannot provide phone support for a product they sell. A cursory search tells me that they rather take your money and send you somewhere else for tech support. What are my alternative to replacement of pump? TIA
Not an alternative but maybe someone that "CARES" - These people do use and suggest Walbro pumps but they also are very specialized and could likely discuss your problem with some expertise. Maybe NOT the solution you were looking for but these people generally perform pretty well.

Did leak-down occur right after changing to this pump?
Not saying you don't have a tank issue, but it could be a bad injector as well. Have you tested your gas cap (is it holding pressure)?
That was a long time ago and it has been since. I was told that it was a the way Holley did their FPR and I got my hands on a Kirban but they told me it was that way and I was so busy with other things didn't think of it.
Don't think it is a bad injector since fuel pressure was good although it bleeds down quickly BEFORE and AFTER I sent the injectors to FIC for testing.
How does the cap affect it? The pressure should be in the lines even after shutdown and maintain for a long time. Clamped off return hose and same thing. If it is the FPR,it should bleed back into the return line. If it is the injectors, they are leaking at a fast rate and the cylinders should have fuel.
Kinda why I am wondering if I have a fuel pump that DOES perform and has a faulty check valve. That would explain why it pumps up pressure and maintains pressure BUT bleeds off easily. Also if there is no check valve, it is the same. That is why I need to know if there is a check valve or whether the fuel hose I put in is leaking and/or not clamped tightly and the fuel is leaking out there.
Clamp off the fuel line from the tank and see how it bleeds off
That will be tricky since I would have to make it a 1 man, 1 woman job and involve the wife to turn it on and I clamp it off and she can turn it off, I think.
I am running a HSR with the Kirban FPR and a stock pump (Advance Auto replacement). Mine holds pressure after shut down but only for about an hour, tops. Wondered about this as it is no where close to what I read it should be.
When I was having hard start issues, it was only while warm or hot. It ended up being the distributor cap (small cap HEI). The center electrode was completely gone. Burned little nub was all that was there. I wa surprised it ran at all. Replaced it with an Accel and have had no issues since. I probably should check it though.
You've used two different FPR's with same/similar results so...
If you have no problems "other than" the bleed off why wouldn't you first check your in tank plumbing. That seems like maybe the first stop. Rather than chasing information if the pump is supplying the pressure/volume your interested in do a positive fix and add a check valve in-line.
