I've got a 95 Vette with the mods in my sig. I'm thinking about adding a 75 shot. Do you guys think the car can handle it and still be reliable? The tranny was replaced at 60k, otherwise, everthing else has 74k miles on it. Engine seems mechanically sound.
Also, is the Nitrous Works system with the spray plate (goes between the tb and manifold) a good system? I don't want to have to tap for a fogger unless necessary. Anyone used it? Pros and cons?
LOL. I didn't even know we had a blower/nos section. Thanks for the responses. After the problems I had with my last vette, I'm very leary about power adders combined with high miles.
Has anyone used the Nitrous Works kit (I think that's the company)? It's the yellow kit Summit sells for the LT1 (I assume the Vette is included, not just the F bod). I want that kit cause of the spray bar/plate design (plus the bottle matches my car:))....but want to make sure the solenoids are reliable and the mixture atomizes properly given the design and location.
A couple months ago someone wrote into Corvette Fever's "Tech Line" inquiring about nitrous on a '93. The writer, Dave Emanuel, suggests not using the plate set up. Here is the quote:
"...I'm also not particularly in favor of plate-type systems on L98 and LT1 engines---they're too "distributionally challenged" for my liking.
For an engine like your LT1, I think one of the best choices is a system like those produced by Nitrous Express, which uses a patented nozzle to inject the nitrous oxide and additioinal fuel. Nitrous Express suggests that the nozzle be mounted in the intake ducting, a few inches from the throttle body....."
He goes on to say that he picked up a full second in the quarter mile with just a 50 shot.
It would probably be better to get one of those thick rubber "power coupler" intake tubes from Eckler's or somebody. The nozzle would probably be mounted better than in the stock accordion tube. Also, I've been told you can get this system at http://www.nitrouswarehouse.com for under $500. That is what I want to do!
I had the nitrous works kit and pulled it off to put the NX kit on. I didn't like the solenoids on the nitrous works (the NX ones are almost twice the size/weight). The 100 shot of NX hits harder and smoother than a 150 nitrous works shot.
