Hello,
I own a 1984 4 plus 3. A friend of mine suggested that the switches on my overdrive may not be operating correctly. He said that when he down shifted from 3rd to 2nd the OD should shut off. Does anyone know where I can find the switches. I tried to google them but all I get is the center console switch.
Recently the gauge fuse is blowing. Can the relay for the overdrive blow that fuse.

Here's a page that shows how the OD operates in the different years. Look at the column for 1984; there are boxes for 2nd and 3rd gears that describe how the OD work in those gears.
The OD should stay engaged on downshifts unless you apply more than 60% throttle. Otherwise the OD will remain engaged.
