Default Stupid distributor question..

Converting to a mallory style small cap with an external coil.

Have had this distributor laying around for so long, I forgot where I bought it from and cant seem to find any paperwork for it, hoping you guys can help me figure this out.

It only has two wires coming out of it, and what appears to be a hall effect pickup in the base.

I'm assuming.. the black with the eyelet should run to the - on the coil, while the red is the tach output and it runs off of waste voltage? Vaccuum advance I should add.

And no.. not a c4, but it is an L98

Distributor doesn't have a data plate or stamped model number on the housing?

I somewhat doubt your wiring scheme. Tach lead isn't a direct connection to the distributor. If it's a "ready to run" distributor red to + of coil and black to - of coil.

I called speedway this morning. Turns out I bought it on ebay - from them - 6 years ago HA!

It is a "ready to run" distributor. guy gave me the low down, I guess I bought it when they were clearance-ing them out to make way for new stock.

Thanks for the help!

They did mention coil resistance for "ready to run" distributors also. You mentioned "low down" so I assume yes but I recall it being a particular spec.

yes - He said that the Accel super stack I'm using with a 1.4ohm primary coil should be fine.

I guess we'll find out.
