Currently running an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap dual plane manifold with a Pro Systems Racing carb (based off a Holley HP 950 carb with smaller venturies giving me 838 cfm) on a 383 @ 10:1.
I am using a 1 " four hole carb spacer and I have to use a drop base 2" filter just to clear the 2 3/4" hi rise Toledo Pro hood (bought from Acivette)
Would removing the 1 " spacer and going to a 3" filter be beneficial? One dyno session showed that removal of the air filter and lid gave me 7 hp. I know the filter is too short for the motor.
In the past, with basically the same motor, but running a 58 mm tb and a super ram, I have spun it up to 6700 before just to see where it was making power, etc.
Normally I spin it up to 6300 and grab another gear.
At 6500 it is very hard to measure 7 hp as the strain gauge on most brakes is a +-1% device do the math and see what I mean. you need to average at least 3 runs make the change get the temps the same and try again with hood closed in driving configuration and average the next 3 betting it is a wash.
