Ostrich 2.0 Problems
I'm having I think a multitude of problems, and I am nearly positive the Ostrich is one of them.
Here's the condensed version of what happened; the long version is here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1590137522
When I initially turned the key, nothing happened. I messed around with the distributor and the throttle and looked for any disconnected wires and hoses, but no luck.
Eventually, I decided to eliminate one possibility by removing the Ostrich and reinstalling the original memcal. It ran this way, but very badly.
Anyway, now that I know the engine is capable of running, I want to troubleshoot the Ostrich. I can't find a manual or any documentation for it online (except a Moates guide on installing the Ostrich 1.0) so I have no idea what to do. I know the switches on the side are for settings related to the number of pins your ECM has, or something. I tried it with every possible combination of switch positions, but didn't get any response. From what I can tell, the ECM should default to the memcal's "limp home mode" if the Ostrich doesn't work since the old memcal is piggybacked on the G1 adapter. But it doesn't. I'm thinking my issue is: incorrect installation, incorrect switch settings, and/or perhaps something wrong with the bin (but it was created by a forum member who does this for a living, so I doubt it).
Here is a picture of how it is hooked up:
Sorry for the bad picture, but at the time I didn't plan on it being documentation for troubleshooting a problem. The G1's pins for the memcal are facing the top of the picture. The memcal is oriented as it would be in the slot, rotated back 90*, with the G1's pins inserted on its right side, so it's hanging off the G1 on the left (it is taking up all the G1's pins; it is just designed so the adapter only connects to a portion of the memcal).

I uploaded the bin using tunerpro RT, then verified the Ostrich RAM against the bin which returned a success.
Please help me! This project has gone on for a long time and I leave for college in 3 weeks. I'd really like to drive my car before I leave.
I'm totally new to this aspect of working on cars, so explain things in simple terms for me.
Edit: Forgot to mention that the engine fans turn on when I turn the key to the "on" position, like when you jump two ALDL pins.

I have not made any changes using emulation yet, but you can emulate with TunerPro RT and change the bin real-time as the engine is running. I believe you can add a bluetooth antenna to the Ostrich, which would mean you wouldn't even need a cable hooked up to it: someone could be tuning it in the passenger seat as it's driving down the road.
I can't imagine having to unbolt the ECM, remove the panel, pull a chip, erase the chip, burn a new BIN to it, then reinstall the chip, panel, and ECM each time I wanted to change the tune.
I'm totally new to tuning so I don't have experience with anything else, but the Ostrich made it extremely easy.
Odxr, I'd love to show you the Ostrich but unfortunately I'm about to leave for VA for college. I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have or send you pictures of my setup though.
I'm sure someone else on the forum knows for sure one way or the other.
