Default Computer adjustment

I have a 1988 automatic and I am thinking about putting A y pipe with no cats with Magnaflow exhaust. I am keeping factory manifolds because of money and I don't feel like putting headers at the moment. First of all how much horsepower total would I gain? The mean question also would be would the computer adjust to the extra air flow on its own or would I have to burn a new chip? Thank you in advance

Don't know about horse power gain, but esc will not have to be retuned with just those mods

And it won't set off any codes?

Are you removing the main cat too or just the pre cats?

I'm actually considering removing the main cat also. Why do you ask, will that create more problems than positive?

I installed a Y pipe, no pre cats, but I did install a high flow main cat. No codes, more rumble and noise though. And, really important, I did pass state emissions in New Jersey.

I'm just curious how much horsepower game they would be if I removed pre and main cats and put in magnaflow exhaust.

A little, not tons of power increase unless your are currently plugged and robbing from the stock rating.

What's funny is a guy I know used some cheap, $200 Jegs headers and a longer 02 sensor on his 87 Corvette. He ran them for years. He bought them for his 84 and then got a newer Vette.

If you aren't removing the main cat then I would say you would be lucky to gain 5 hp...
