Hi guys
I have an 88 coupe
The code sticker has been removed
Any way of telling what options my car should have
I also think it may have the z51 kit
It has 17" wheels
And 13" front rotors
What else can I check to see if it is a z51
Thanks
Buy the NCM "build sheet" for your car. I know of no other way other than a vehicle specific inventory of the car as it sits presently.
You would need to measure the sway bar diameters and assume they hadn't been changed, check the production numbers of the shocks on the tube and again assume they hadn't been changed. Do you have the aux (pusher fan) and the engine oil cooler?
Oil cooler is part of the oil filter adapter on an '88 and would have hoses and pipes connected. Look LH rear of engine at filter. Pusher fan is in front of radiator.
If you're interested and want to put forth the effort there should be a build sheet at the fuel tank that you could maybe remove. It's been done before. There's likely one also stuffed into the front cross-member but it requires suspension disassembly.
30mm front is maybe correct and the rear to match a 30 is 24 maybe. GOOGLE should be your friend here 1988 Z51 with hundreds of results.
The small "pusher" fan and the oil cooler (the hoses above the oil filter) are also part of the optional Z52 sport suspension package. Z52 didn't come with the stiffer springs.
The rear sway bar that was part of the Z51 package should be 24mm The Z52 package has a 26mm front bar and a 22mm rear bar. Z51 also had specific Bilstein shocks.
