Just so you'll know what it is when it happens to you...
Riding around; nothing out of the ordinary...On a downshift, the clutch pedal engages farther down than normal...Only happens once, next few shifts are OK (normal pedal)...
On the way home, the pedal "feels low"...I get home, the last downshift going into driveway is very low...
Check fluid level...there ain't any...
Get a flashlight, look up under dash at firewall...Yep, there's the missing fluid... :cuss
I have an email into 18carfan now, just waiting for confirmation to order both cylinders...
It lasted 5 years for me; no telling how long for previous owners...
I have leaking fluid also. So that's where the fluid is disappearing to.
Let us know how much carfan sells the clutch slave and and master for shipped to your door.
FYI - Just read a article on replacement. The guy bleed the system by pushing the fluid from the clutch slave towards the master cylinder. He said it gets ride of the air bubbles better this way. Once the master fills up then bleed it using the normal procedure.
Go figure
The guy bleed the system by pushing the fluid from the clutch slave towards the master cylinder...
"Reverse bleeding"; it's supposed to be the latest rage...
I replaced/flushed all fluid about 18 months ago; hose & bottle method, had no problem. '86 has bleed screw already in "highest point" attitude...
JonM: Thanks for the link! I'm off to Advance/NAPA/AutoZone now to see about kits...I'm pretty sure no one will have them in stock :D , so I'll probably order from your link...
For those interested  , the easiest way was to pull wheel; remove rear wheelwell; remove battery. Unbolt cruise servo; let hang. Unbolt strut; let hang.
Undo hyd line at master; undo two 13mm master bolts. Use 2x4 between seat track & pedal to push pedal to firewall. I could now reach in to firewall opening (from under hood) and pry rod off stud. Remove master.
Reach down next to steering shaft and remove hydraulic line clip bolt.
Go underneath, pull rubber boot out of bellhousing; undo hyd line; undo two 15mm slave bolts. Remove slave; remove hyd line.
Try and find cylinders or kits locally; impossible.
Think about supper...And Braves baseball... :yesnod:
