Default wiper blades first C4

I've got a 94 'vette that I bought last week. Pretty nice car, but the wipers won't park or come on without hitting the hood. I have read various threads on this, and tried the Delco 20" beam type blade, and also, a Trico neo form type blade. The Delcos are too big on the pin hole, and the Neo Form Trico hits worse than the Bosch blades that I am replacing. Will the 20-1 Exact Fit Tricos REALLY fix this nutty issue? They just didn't look any more low profile than the Boschs. Also, I have heard Rain X Weathertechs will fit low as well. I realize this is an old car, but I've never owned a vehicle with such a silly problem that seems impossible to rectify. I like this car for lots of reasons, but I do LOVE my C5!

I bought some delco just a few ago and I have not installed them yet on my 86, but I did noticed there was more than one 20" delco blade. What is your part number?

Only one blade hit on my c3 and I noticed too late but bending the arm fixed it.

Yep have to get low profile ones or you will mess things up. I just replaced just the blades but sound like they have already been changed with the wrong ones.

My Ac Delco part number is 8-9020, or GM part number 19252695. Hopefully, somebody can chime in with the correct number.

I found that Michelin 20" blades are a nice low profile, and they have replaceable inserts, too. Here's a photo to show their good fit under my hood:

I was surprised to see them at Home Depot!

Yes a part # would be interesting because the web application for the Michelin product (ALL) have no applications for C4 Corvettes. Their application catalog goes '82 - '97 skipping the C4 entirely. At least the Michelin catalog that I used and I believe it was the actual Michelin site. Maybe they don't have all of their product on the I-net applications.

Seems they've maybe done their work and paid attention. If there's a potential problem don't even go there.

Default Problem 90% solved

You do indeed have to use the Rain X Weatherbeater blades. I took the Trico Neo Forms back to Advance, and tried the Rain X's at the store. They still brush the bottom of the hood, but just BARELY. I'm happy with the results. I put them on and laid the old Bosch next to them on the windshield, and there was a visible difference in height. Thanks for all the replies; so far, so good.

I've gone with the Michelins as well. They fit under the hood without a problem and are available just about anywhere, even Wal-Mart.

Mine are 8-2202 89001009

edit: I bought them when I needed to spend just a bit more for free shipping and haven't changed them yet.

I see that you are replacing the entire wiper rather than just the rubber insert (refill). I have the original blade assembly on the arm and still using refills. I have 1 left and was on the Forum few months back trying to get a solution because the blade assembly just does not come off and where you can use the modern blade assembly as they sell today.

If you have the original blade assembly, you can still get a refill at O'Reilly auto. The part number is: Trico 45-200.

pcolt94, the original blades are long gone. The previous owner had Bosch blades installed, and they were WAY too high.

Finally made it to Home Depot to check out the part #. They are Michelin "High Performance" 20". No other p/n. $6.87 ea.

Very strange they aren't in the Michelin catalog. They work good for me! Are the late model C4's different than my '84? I'll be able to check out the fit on some late model C4's next week.

Could it be that Michelin has found that not all C4 hoods fit the same? It is a snug fit! Maybe they got complaints, so dropped us from their catalog.

It could also be that some C4 hood latches pull the hood down farther than others. Adjusting the hood latches might be a way to solve the insufficient space problem! I've seen some people slam their hoods closed very forcefully! This shouldn't be necessary, if the hood latches are adjusted properly. Slamming the hood closed might cause the hood to hit the wiper blades. My hood latches close with a gentle push.

Even my "smog man" thought all C4 hoods needed to be slammed closed!

That's what I assumed when I saw that there were no applications in the catalog. Every install of anyone's blades on any C4 can certainly be a challenge except the OE and if you have OE's I believe you can do "inserts" for all except possibly the '95+. I've never tried.

I am lucky enough to have just recently purchased a nice 95 Coupe that still has the original blade housing/ assembly , so I REALLY wanted to just get the rubber blade inserts and not the whole new aftermarket blade assembly , so as to maintain the originality of the car . So , per the suggestion of pcolt94 , I looked at all the local auto parts stores, O'Reillys , Advanced, etc etc , and found that NONE of them stocked just the blade "refills" any longer . So I purchased these Trico Assemblies , and then just removed ( slid out ) the blades from them , and then inserted them into my original housings/assemblies. ( Trico BTR 20-1 is exact model number of the assemblies that I purchased ) But just today , I searched Amazon for the item that pcolt94 suggested , and guess what .......... They DO sell the Trico 45-200 refills !!!! So , I ordered a couple to have for future use .

I just replaced mine with ones from Corvette Central. I kept the originals but couldn't find refills around my podunk little town.

So now I have two sets. Never used. The car hasn't been in the rain even by accident since I owned it. So far this year it has rained twice.

After trying 4 sets, I purchased these. Fit perfect, however have never used them in real life. (Don't drive the Vette in the rain)
