How hard to replace driver's side door ajar sensor?
The sensor is going out, and they are pretty cheap(13.95 from Mid-America)so I thought I would just switch it out. Anyone ever done this?

It's not too bad. You have to take the entire door panel off, there are some screws that are tricky your first time. Then you have to remove some sheet metal panel. Replacing the actual sensor is pretty easy.
Make sure you don't push down on the small plunger on the new sensor. It will auto adjust for your door the first time you install it and close the door.

I didn't replace mine, just loosened it up and placed thin washers behind the mounting screws.
On a pre-'90 Vette it's necessary to remove the door panel and plate to access that area, but realy not a big deal.

You shud be able to do it without removing the door panel.
1. Remove the lower screw.
2. Replace it with a slightly longer screw.
Remove upper screw. Swivel the switch out of the way & then use the top screw to hold the backing plate in place.
3. Pull switch thru, etc.
4. Reverse procedure.
Have done it a couple of times without any problem. :smash:
