I know the sac city opti people talk big game about the 100% guarantee.
Too bad that doesnt cover your labor or death on a busy highway if the part breaks down - as we've had too many issues with shoddy replacement optisparks already
That comment in the linked thread was me. As I stated there, I bought it straight from the AIP website, but I believe it to be the exact same thing SAC sells. The text copy on the AIP page is identical to SAC's description with a few minor variations. I bought from AIP because the price is significantly cheaper than SAC.
The problem I ran into with it was once I got over about 5,500 rpm it would stutter and cut out. I ended up removing it and used the cap and rotor from it to refresh my OEM opti. When I opened the AIP opti up, the only obvious oddity I saw was the metal plate that goes under the rotor and covers the optical sensor was bent, and a couple spots on the perimeter of it looked like someone had attacked it with a pair of tin snips. My OEM opti now has almost 134,000 miles on it, with the new cap and rotor on for the last 8,000+, it's running beautifully.

What about the optical encoder disk? Was it warped?
Ive seen some comments (not on sac citys part, but some other brands) about breaking up at high rpm and the encoder disk being 'warped'.
This is something i always look for when installing an optispark.
I always take it apart and look for that.
I am also most trustful of the mitsubishi optical sensor, but i realize they arent made anymore
