O.K You've helped me determine I can do my converter on jackstands.
Next question: it seems to be the overwhelming consensus that I will need a heavy duty tranny cooler. I will not be pounding the car, occasional quarter mile, occasional punch it on deserted roads. Is the cooler necessary? Can it wait until I tear things down for cam, heads etc, in about 2-3 months? Can anyone recommend a cooler? any warnings so far as install? Oh yeah, do I need new flex plate converter bolts< and do I use blue or red locktite Thanks again.
I have learned so much on the forum...but you guys can be hard on us new guys

Cooler I'd think could wait. The converter bolts I suggested in your other thread? I can't see any reason/excuse "NOT TO". I would think the OE/GM correct bolt likely is still serviced with appropriate locker compound on it. I'd think it appropriate to mention to be sure the converter is "WET"! Amount mentioned I believe varies from installer to installer. Ask your reseller.
You should be able to reuse your converter bolts. Blue locktite will work fine. Specs call for 40 ft lbs but it's really hard to get a torque wrench in there. Just tight will do fine. The only time I have heard of converter bolts shearing is on a car with 800hp. Other things will break first.
