The driver's side wiper has a very wide arc, it barely extends past the metal windshield molding strip (whatever it's called). I'm worried about driving at high speeds with the wipers on and breaking off the arm
Anyone knows how to adjust this?
There is an adjustment on the wiper linkage. You have to take the plastic screen off to get to it. There is even an adjustment spec that either the Chilton or Haynes explains. Sorry I forgot which.
other option is to replace the arms with 96 arms, they (96) have a slight bend at the very end, this is supposed to prevent wiper arm collisions, and running off the edge of the windshield
as an added benefit the fluidic washer system is higher on the 96 providing better coverage.
I didn't quite understand your reply because of the punctuation. Are you saying that the wiper is not suppose to run off the end of the windshield with the 96 arms? Because mine does and I don't know how to adjust it.
Last year at Carlisle, Gordon Killebrew adjusted mine as part of an instruction to 35th Anniversary owners.
After preliminary adjustment, he had me turn the washers on and wipers on to high speed to assure that the blades came to about 1/2" to 1" of the side moldings.
The entire procedure took him about 10min, including lecturing attendees (sorry but I didn't take notes, :( ).
Just fininshed up...was an easy project...took about 40 minutes, I took the whole screen off so I sould clean as much as I can in the vent compartment-And damn it was nasty in there! Thanks all...onto the next problem
