Default New Snap-On ODBII handheld scanner.

Have you guys seen this thing yet? My father is a Snap-On dealer and had one of these out yesterday so I was looking at it. It is a rather slick little handheld scanner device that can do any ODBII vehicle. I guess it is also CAN (sp?) compatible for when that comes out. It shows you anything and everything that comes out the ODBII port. The darn thing only costs $750. I thought that was a far cheaper solution that the other scanners that they sell starting at $2400.

I'll have to take some pictures of it so some of you can see it, might be a nice little device to have. Has the data logging and everything.

Got a M# for the Snap site search?

I'll guess this is to compete w/ the KAL (matco) unit.

Any means, German, Asian, USA big 3?

I've been trying to find it on the site all morning, not sure it is on there yet. I'll ask dad the # later. He said it can do anything last night, import or domestic. Chevy, Porsche, Audi, BMW....., anything with ODBII.

The nice thing with ODBII is the data formats are now industry standardized. There are only 3 formats rather before when every manufacturer had their own format.

Holy @#$, I bought an OBDII scanner at autozone for $150.00. It does any vehicle from 1996 on with an OBDII. I have used it twice. It is very easy.

The Actron code reader? Different animal. The cheap "scanners" can only read and reset trouble codes. The higher-end scanners can look at real-time sensor data and tell you things that may not really be a "fault".
