Default Window Short?

Anyone ever have a problem with the power window lines having a short in them? I originally thought it was a problem with my motor, so I took the door apart, blah blah blah, and tried the window one last time before changing the motor and it worked. I start putting the door back together and notice that when I move the large plug (with like 8-10 wires going in and out of it) that the window will work or not work depending on how it is positioned. Has anyone ever had anything like this happen to them? Any suggestions on how to correct it? Oh yeah, it's an 84 we're talking about. Thanks.

What do you mean by position. In it's track or up and down. Have you checked the switch

By position, I mean the position of the plug (the 8-10 wire plug) itself inside the door panel. I checked the switch and that works fine.

Could be dirty or corroded contacts. If it is still apart, also inspect for loose or broken contacts. Spray the contacts with a good electrical cleaner. Do the same with the window switch.
