My "Service ASR Light" has come on ! Has anyone experienced this and if so what needs to be done ? What service is required, checking in my car manual revals nothing. Do I have to take it to a Dealer only to get ripped off ? It seems that my ASR would come on every time I would take a right turn and go over a bump at the same time. Does this indicate a bad sensor on the right rear wheel ? Anyone with clues to help solve these problems would be greatly appreciated.
My came on last week, and comes on consistently after driving for a while, but not at start-up. I switch-off ASR when the warning comes on. I took it to a mechanic that I trust, and they said the code led to 4 pages of troubleshooting flowcharts. After 2-3 hrs, they said that it appeared that the control unit was not getting power. I'll pick-up the car tomorrow and find out more, including the size of the bill. Meanwhile, you may want to check your fuses.
CHECK YOUR BRAKE FLUID LEVEL THERE IS ASWITCH THAT SETS OFF ASR WHEN IT IS LOW
Yes, but that switch will also give an ABS code (if both come on at the same time, it is usualy brake fluid/worn brake pads).
One thing to check- make sure the vaccum tube, and power socket are both plugged into the ASR box. I unplugged my power socket to relocate my block water temp sensor, and forgot to plug it back in. My ASR light was coming on, and I couldnt figure it out, and since that plug is up under the ASR box, it wasnt easy to see. Once I plugged the darn thing back in, all was fine.
When new brake pads were installed last week, that seemed to take care of the "service asr" light as well. Incredible price on the brake pads - 10 times what I expected to pay!
