random knock sensor question

Default random knock sensor question

anybody know if the thread size on the knock sensor is the same on all years?

like would my 85 ks threads be the same threads as my 87 ks threads and same as a all other years?

i know there are more ks's in different places, im just talking about the threads.

Threads are all the same. It's 3/8" NPT, IIRC.

They just used the block drain on that side of the block. Too much tape/sealer can effect the sensor from what I've herd.

this was my first try at a block drain system for flushing. worked good. ive improved it and will post better puctures.

im in the process of a three day douche for the 85.

it was disgusting the previous owner hacked the wiring to the fans. My guess is because it was overheating because the doorknob did not do regular coolant maintenance.

I took my new knock sensor to Lowe's and put together a block flush adapter:

that does not look like the right dope and most likely the wrong torque because of it. I put new in could not bring myself to put in old parts. the new one came with the right dope.

There's actually 1/4 NPT to garden hose adapters available in the market place. Not maybe an easy "local find" but they are out there.

A friend uses a short section of old compressor hose to get the fittings he uses outside of the tight confines of the engine/frame rail components in his car. Not a C4. I'd think configuring a short length of compressor hose would certainly make the effort less aggravating.
