Default Delamination C4

Hello Everybody,

I owna 1989 Z51 witha manual transmission. The hood is delaminating. I have some ideas on how to fix it. But, I was hopng to get my ideas validated by you all.
So how do I fix it . Thank you

It would be a big help if you would post some pics of the problem. area.

And you may also want to post your question in the Paint/Body section of the forum. There are some very knowledgeable body guys in that section.

How do I post a picture.
The delamination is occuring on the driver side. The hood as it comes down to form the fender is delaminated.

There is a body group. I will check. Thank you

Clear coat delamination is a strip and repaint deal. Because how a C4 is constructed all effected parts need to have all original paint removed then prepped and paint per paint supplier. Delamination is cause by poor adhesion between color and clear paints, it started during the mid 80s - early 90s with OEM paint. It generally effects top surfaces more than sides and lower edges.

I am not talking about the paint and clear. The plastic is separating.

Take it to the high pressure car wash and blast the clear off (And clean it at the same time)

Could have been repaired at some time, maybe they used a non-compatible component of just a bad repair.
