Default Climate Control

I just replaced the auto climate control module on my 89 vert with a used one. All seems to function except the heat will not lower with the down button. I sprayed the connections with Corrosion X at install. If I cut the battery off it will reset. Troubleshooting tips appreciated before I tear it back out.
*Note: I just did a search after posting and found a thread about pulling and re soldering contacts which feels a bit intimidating. Does anyone out there rebuild these units?

Mine did that. I had to take the control head apart. The buttons push on rubber contacts. Mine was misaligned. Make sure you have the buttons down when you open it of everything falls out (ask me how I know...).

My fix (1993) was as simple as pulling out the climate control from its connectors and pushing it a tad farther onto the connectors (probably some oxidation from age or something interfered with the connection).

batee.com, fixed my control unit plus my ac/programmer for my 88. Email Bryan at batee.com and tell him the problems with your unit.

Thanks folks. I am getting a new shift lens and needle so will pull it and clean contacts when I get a chance to install. I had hoped that spraying the contact cleaner into it when I first installed it would have helped but I did not spend much time making sure all contacts were cleaned and then seated well. Oh well, live and learn. If that fails will probably contact Batee for a refurb job.
