Default C4 Floor Jack?

I've looked at all the Wall Mart and auto parts stores, etc for a floor jack that is 5 1/4" or less. I found a 5 3/8" jack but the lips on the puck just stike the lower molding enough that I can position it under the jacking point.

Thanks for any insight,

Rome

I use a regular floor jack, what I do is first I drive up on some 2x4's which gives enough clearance to slide the jack underneath the spoiler.
Or I'll jack from the side of the car, all depends on what I'm doing.

For the rear, I have a "Jack-a-vette" which replaces the round piece and it fits between the exhaust pipes and jacks up from the differential.

I can't find mine right now, or I'd snap a pic for you.

But the 2x4 trick is the cheapest and simplest solution to the low clearance problem.

What he said.............
WOOD. I use either 2x4 or 2x6's Two for each front wheel. I ramp one on top of the other so it won't slide as I'm drivin on it. Then the floor jack with a piece of wood on it right under the x member

ROME, I have had success using a small hydraulic floor jack (or you can use the vette tire jack) lifing the car enough so that you can position the larger floor jack, accessing from either side (not the front), on the center pad between the front wheels. I always use blocks to support the car, removing the jack for access to the oil pan and lubrication of the front suspension and tranny linkage.

ROME, I just changed front rotors and pads using a floor jack "near" the front jacking points.

Actually I slid the jack under the car to catch the doubled edges of the frame just after it bends inward just in front of the "jack here" points.

The jack has a 2 ton capacity and has a lifting range of 5.3" to 14" purchased on sale at an auto parts store.

If you look around you can get a "flat" replacement for your floor jack cup. I bought one at a tool show for about $5 and it fits my 3 ton Craftsman floor jack perfectly. It has a stem, like the cup, which fits into the floor jack. But is a flat plate with a rubber surface, so it increases your clearance compared to the cup. If necessary you can make one by welding a small round of the stem diameter on to a 4" x 4" metal plate and gluing a piece of gasket rubber to the flat's surface.

This will get you the extra 1/8" you need to get under the car without any need to go up on wood or ramps, etc. However, all the methods suggested here will work.

I have a 3 ton Craftsman jack and all I do is remove the puck from the jack and slide the jack under the car and up it goes and there is plenty of room to raise it up and put stands under it....I know what people are going to say... that is not to safe because their is nothing for the jack to grip to while raising it because the surface on the jack is flat....all I can say is it works great for me :D :D :D
