Default Switch from 84 Body to 90 possible?

Hi.

Sorry for my poor english. I'm from Germany.

I have a 84 C4 which is quite in bad shape. The Fiberglas is damaged at many places.
Now I got an offer for an 90s Body and was wondering, if I can put all parts from the 84's to the 90's body. Is the hood and front bumper the same?

Thanks
Thomas

Thomas,

Welcome aboard! Most of the parts will transfer. The C4 interior panels, exterior lights & Targa top were modified 3 times. 84 - 86, late 86 - 88, 89 - 96. The targa will not transfer. The wire harness will have many different connectors. If still attached to the 90 body?

It's my understanding that the 84 with the crossfire engine had a different hood than all the others with the throttlebody intake. From what I understand, the 84 hood at least does not interchange with the others.
Can't speak to the bumper.

Thanks for the info.
It's a Targa. So I guess it's not that easy.

The matter with the hood wouldn't bother me, because I have a LT1 engine for the car.

Is there a place to find the differences between the models in the internet? Best would be with pictures.

Assuming the '90 is a coupe also.

Body parts with the exception of the hood will generally swap. Bumpers and impact bars are no problem. Rear glass on the '90 of course has the CHMSL that the '84 doesn't but the parts essentially would swap.

Interior and trim? Nothing will direct swap. You can see the obvious visual differences. Look at cars for sale on eBay for easiest visual comparisons.

They are both targas.

Is the only different at the hood the air intake? I want to exchange the L98 to a LT, so it would be no problem.
CHMSL: I would use 84 rear glass.

Interior would be complete from the 84's.
If the mounting points didn't change this should work?

I have seen on summit that the door weatherstrips are different 84-89 and 90-91.
Someone knows something about that?
Can I use 84 doors in the 90's?

I believe the differences in weather stripping kits are caused by the differences in the targa tops for the different model years.

The radiator top half support assembly is also 84 only if I remember it correctly it sits at a straighter angle and also matches the hood. You may also find some changes in the suspension and K-member.
