Here is the deal. I have had the car since 2011 and the suspension is completely stock other than poly bushings. I have been contemplating lowering the car for quite a while now but a few things keep holding me back.
1. Not sure if I like how the wheel well gap is really narrow up top and larger on the sides. Sort of looks a little un-proportional to me, not sure. See pic:
2. Not sure how the ride quality will change? I don't daily drive the car anymore, but I do still appreciate some comfort on longer road trips to Daytona or out of state. Florida doesn't necessarily have the worst roads in the country, but potholes are frequent, and so are speed bumps. Essentially, does lowering the C4 make it more of a chore to drive and does it get tiring after a while? Sometimes things are great at first and then begin to suck after a while (muffler eliminators).
To those that have lowered, what is your take? I know some of you have raised your car back to stock height. I like the stance of my car now, but always wonder how much the attitude would increase with maybe a 1" drop front and rear.
I've lowered the rear of many by about 1" with the longer bolts and it looks better and still maintained the front to rear proportions (front sightly lower) I did the front and rear both about 1" on my 95 and although it looks good I will not do a front again big pain and I do think it ended up with a harsher ride.

Just the rear with bolts.
That actually looks great. I was thinking about lowering the rear maybe 1/4-1/2" on the stock bolts to achieve a similar look with still a little rake. Does the front end feel floaty at speed? Are your ZR-1's lowered in the rear only?
All of them look great. I really like what you did with the blue 91' though. Simple and effective. Might have to try that route. Messing with the front end cutting or gluing wedges doesn't seem like the most fun in the world. Especially if I end up with a more jarring ride.
When you go from a 2010 crew cab F-150 that floats over the road to my 94' it really feels like you are in a go cart as it is.

So true the big plus on just doing the rear you can always put it back or try longer if you want lower. I can tell you if you get the rear lower than the front you will not like it!! I did not even care for even all around when it came to handling.
Do a search many write-ups on it. Cost is not much... Unless you have to pay someone else to do it. removal of the front spring is not to bad "if you have the right tools and a lift"
My lowering kit has been sitting on the shelf for 9 months because it looks like a total pain. Blue car in you're post looks to low. Wile the other blue one looks good.
Seems like if would look best if it was only lowered about 1/2 of what the kit does. Some guys have said they just cut down the rubber on the front. Front is just a lot of work to do.
I'm just trying to decide if it's worth all the work.

I lowered my '94 camaro (not my vette) and i know for a fact u have to match the spring u use with the shocks u install with them. No, dont even consider use regular stock shocks. And i proved to myself adj shocks wont correct enough. I installed 10 point adj KYB AGX shocks with my 1" lowered springs. I tried every setting and only 1 setting was bearable. Once i got enough miles on the AGX shocks to justify new shocks i got the recommended shock (Tokico) and it felt good to drive the car again. Koni has some great shocks but are more expensive than a camaro deserves.
So the C4 has a single spring front and rear yes? U may want to contact someone/vendor like vette brakes to get the size right on springs (maybe shocks too).
Hope this can help and let us know how it works out for u TT.

Well I went ahead and lowered the rear only approximately 3/4" with longer bolts. Think it came out pretty nice. Freshly detailed the car but dew settled on my car and made the paint look dull.

On my last C4(94 model) I lowered the rear just enough to be slightly higher than the front and left the front alone. I liked it that way. Rear is easy to do. I had taller wheels than 17" and it came out looking just the way I wanted it.
