C4 Tech/Performance L98 Corvette and LT1 Corvette Technical Info, Internal Engine, External Engine

Default rough idle or normal

Hi, I just bought a 84 c4.. I don't know anything about the crossfire injection.. it has 2 flaps on the air breather they are open before I start it and when I start it I think one closes the other stays open it a rough idle until it warm up ... after warm up it runs smooth.. I know that's not normal .. I know it shouldn't idle rough what kind of problem am I looking at... or any suggestion I really thank you for your time...

try cleaning and look for vacumme leaks.

how did you make that mess lol

Thanks ... The mess it a mystery I don't know ... I will check the vacuum hose's .. can you tell me about that little sensor in bedded in the air cleaner is that a major item.. Thanks again

The sensor in the air cleaner is for cold start. The pass side air cleaner flap only opens at WOT

Hi, Gjohnson .. so what you are saying is the pass side stays close until it get warm/hot at WOT??? ( sorry what's that mean) and the driver side is all ways open or does it do the same thing... or are they closed on start up and the driver side open immediately and the pass side opens on warm up... I really Thank you for your time.. Corvette forum is great I'm not a mechanic I'm learning though thanks to you guys.... Thanks again

give the engine a general tune first ! the flapse are normal ! and yes vacumme leaks ! check the vacuum hose's and manifoil , tb , take out and clean the iac and clean the iac seats !

They are both closed at cold start.Drivers side opens when warm via sensor in air cleaner and stays open, Pass side only opens at WOT
