Default Brake Light

I have an 88' convertible and the brake light comes on intermittently. When the light is on I lose half of the break pedal. When the light goes off I have a full brake pedal.

Anyone have any ideas about that spook?

I would guess it's the other way around. The pedal is sinking causing the brake light to come on. Failing master cylinder maybe.

If it were mine, I'd first try checking the m/c level and then bleeding the brakes, then check the level again and see what happens after that. If the light goes after pumping the brakes, I'd say it's air in the system. Bleed the brakes. If it comes back after a while, you may have a leak, or air is getting in, possibly at a caliper.
