The other day I was riding down the road and my car just shut down. Checked fuses and coil fuse was blown. Replaced the fuse and tried starting the car. Fuse immediately blew again. Ideas/thoughts?
The coil fuse is a 10A fuse. Either the coil has shorted to ground or the ICM has shorted causing excess current thru the coil. Unplug the ICM first and try another fuse. If the fuse is OK then the ICM might be bad. If the fuse blows, the coil would seem to be the problem.
Also check the wiring to see nothing has shorted thru any insulation of any wires.
If you're car is on the other side of 100,000 miles, you might just look into replacing the coil and ICM as preventive maintenance. They are normal wear and tear parts.
