Default Antenna Bypass Harness

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums and this is my first post. I have a 1988 corvette convertible that I love to cruise around in listening to the radio, but the huge antenna is an eye sore for me. I've looked into it and have seen that the bypass harness is an option. My question is, can I still listen to the radio with decent reception if I keep the antenna down all the time? Thanks for viewing/replying.

I don't think the antenna is amplified so when it is down just unplug it at the connector and try it. I think you can also have a hidden antenna.

My antenna ribbon broke inside the motor with the mast in the down position. With the mast being down your reception will be affected.
I installed a new antenna on my 88. I thought about running a antenna wire kit under the front dash pad but decided to get a new antenna.

Not sure. Maybe something VERY local and if no obstructions. When I had that issue, it didn't work for more than half my stations and those that worked, it didn't work well. Leave it alone and route in an antenna that is more hidden or fix it or don't listen to radio.

The antenna needs to be up to get radio reception, especially FM stations. You would be better off fixing the existing power antenna or maybe replacing it with a fixed-mast antenna. Most of the fixed antennas will have a thinner mast so it won't be as obvious but it will always be up. These antennas will be 37: in height which is the same as the height of the fully extended power antenna.
