Default Supercharger for LT4 which one

I am thinking about a procharger for my LT4. Am concerned about stock compression ratio. This motor is pure stock and I believe that the supercharger is the way to go rather than cam, head work,manifold,383 ci, 4.10 gears, etc. Am looking for opinions and experience particularly with the LT4s.

Thanks

A LT4 has a high compression ration stock (10.8:1?) making a supercharger really risky. I think the money would be better spent on heads and cam or nitrous.

Go with a Intercooled Procharger. Talk to Mike at http://www.superchargers4less.com he has the best price on Procharger systems. LT4's have high compression, but with an intercooled setup I don't think you would have a problem.

thanks for the comments. I have seen the sc4less web page and this is where I got the idea. Did they do your setup or some one else. I do not have the expertise or tools to do this type setup. I think they are somewhere in Louisana and that's not to far. Am looking for somewhere around 100-135 hp gain. Don't dragrace to much maybe 4-5 times a year but want to blow away the rice grinders once in while. Am afraid of NOS dont like carring a bomb around if you know what I mean.

Either Vortech or Procharger... I added the Procharger Intercooler to my Vortech... The only thing you will have to watch is how much boost you are runningwith your added compression... just keep an eye on your knock retard, log a few incremental runs ...pick up the LT1 edit program and roll a few degrees off your 90 - 100 TPS readings on your spark curves. If you want a leess expensice route you could go Nos...

I myself would choose an alternate route. If you are absolutely posititve that you want a supercharger, I would build the bottom end first with forged pistons, lowering the compression ratio. While your in there, you could easily go with a heads and cam package if you like. This setup will more than suffice your needs. After you become "numb" to that level of horsepower, THEN add a supercharger. The end result will be an extremely fast, yet very durable LT4.

I would feel very uncomfortable with a high compression blown engine like the LT4.

Good luck!

Thanks guys, I just ordered a Nitrous kit today (125 shot). The supercharger idea has been put on hold because don't like the procharger setup, and Lingenfelter told me today that their magnacharger will be for C5's only, so I called the Eaton dist. in Calif and they said there are no plans at this time for their uints to work on the C4's and that Lingenfelter would make the final decision on this. now the question is where to mount the bottle??? my LT4 is a convertible. Someone had the idea to put it in the sparetire rack?? I am running 13.2 to 13.3 @ 109 to 111 stock now what should I expect out of a 125 shot with no other mods. All that has been done is Corsa catback and SLP airbox.

With a 125 shot you will drop a second on your ET as long as you have traction. I'd think twice about installing the bottle in the spare tire compartment. The spare tire is part of the structural crush protection for a rear end collision. If you put the bottle down there and you are rear ended, bad things will happen.

After you install the kit, it's a good idea to run the car on a dyno with a wideband O2 sensor to ensure that your air/fuel ratios are around 12:1. Also, check your plugs on a regular basis for signs of detonation. Look for little black or silver specs on the ceramic and blue annealing on the ground electrode. If you see any of these things on the plugs you will have to either reduce the nitrous jet size or run race gas.

Running juice can be even harding because you are shooting additional 125 hp in a split second and the parts strain...as with a blower you boost comes on smooth but you can always run a progressive system...but keep in mind running boost you are most of the time running in vaccuum mode :D unless you are like me and boost just to get out of the driveway and lay rubber down the block! :reddevil and the neighbors are :cuss
