Been here quite a few years, thanks...16 to be exact. I know how to use the search function.
Nobody has specifically said IF the F-body setup would clear the steering box, or what their clearance issues were.
But, thanks for your snide help...much appreciated.
My build is a bit different...I have no engine mounts. I don't have to put the engine exactly where the prior one sat. It's a ZR1 body...the motor mount pads are on the front corners of the frame rails, so I don't need to worry about the offset mount adapters being the limit of where I can place my motor.

That's maybe not quite right. If the ZF is to be retained, the IRS with the C-beam etc. the location of the mount needs to be based upon the dimension of the rear block edge to the mounting pad that's available. That's why I asked the OP if the car was currently an A4 or an M6 for his. For any LS or "whatever" I don't think you can start at both ends and expect the "middle" to compensate. Your ZR-1 body (C4 I'm assuming) regardless of year uses the LT1/4 suspension member.
Most of the LS adapter brackets are orientated to the use of the older SBC mounting and I've never measured the dimensions involved but with some of the multi-threaded options and even some of the "slotted" provisions to the block they all might work but then there's the elevation to be considered maybe. I think at some point someone here on the CF even had his adapter brackets reversed.
The urethane block is a valuable tool - when we did Vega, Monza or any other Altered we had to use the "real things" with crank-shafts and accessories. There was some heavy lifting.
Are you intending a MT or an AT of some sort? The IRS?

Manual...T-56 Magnum, most likely.
And I'm not planning on using the C-beam. I have some fabrication work to do...but I plan to get the engine as low and as far back as possible for more even weight distribution. Lots of work ahead...but it should improve the handling characteristics of the car immensely.
And it is a C4Z...a 1990 model.
These new urethane blocks are pretty solid. Mine has urethane heads, and all the accessory holes, oil pan, header, etc so I can mock up everything on the urethane block and make sure my clearances are right before ever dropping the real one in. LOTS easier on the back, and less chances of disasters happening.
I just finished a LS swap into a 86. Used the C5 brackets, The power steering pully barely cleared, there is no was you could fit an alternator under there too. C5 stuff worked good. On the 86 you couldn't put it too far back or you couldn't access the rear exhaust bolts.

I'm in the process of planning a LS swap in my '84 with a Tremec TKO600.
Which motor mounts did you use?
Were there issues with the windshield wiper motor or with the firewall?
Did you cut or massage the heater box on the passenger side?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
No thread sorry, I did it for a friend. I used some of the threads I found here and searching the net. I took a decent amount of pics for the owner as I went. It definitely was a challenge at times sourcing some parts. I might be able to get the pics all together and add a post.
I was looking over a C5 accessory setup and noticed that the air conditioning compressor is located on the bottom passenger side. Is this workable on a C4?
No room there for the compressor in the normal C5 area. I think there is a bracket kit to mount a smaller compressor higher on the pass side. This car didn't have the a/c hooked up.

Rich, was it an actual ls1 or a lq4 / lq9 with ls1 intake? the latter is what im looking to do. i can get a junkyard lq9 or lq4 for less than $300 with all harnesses and accessories. plan is for me to sell off the truck accessories and intake to help me fund the c5 accessories.
no doubt ive seen other ls/lq swaps that use our existing compressor. that is what ill be doing as it stands right now.
ANY pics an or comments boy i would sure love to read them!!!

It was a LQ9 bottom end with LS1 heads and intake. Used a harness/computer off a 04 GTO and made it stand alone. Used harness info off http://lt1swap.com/ and have access to a alldata account for the wiring.

Hi, I'm in the process of an LS swap for my 87 c4, will the c5 accessory brackets work on mine. I have the ICT branded ones and they're too big.
