Default Wrong Dual Mass flywheel for swap

Hello all as I posted before I am converting an 700r4 to a zf6. I started assembling the clutch assembly and realized that the dual mass flywheel I have has a different bolt pattern....Are there more than one flywheel???? In the picture you can see the flywheel and part number and i included my flex plate that was on the car so you can see the bolt pattern that will work. thx for your help

It appears you have an LT5 flywheel - so if you purchased the transmission and the other parts as a "package" you might want to confirm the rest of the parts also. I mentioned the length of the case to tip of the input shaft in your other thread to ID the transmission. The LT5 clutch housing will also be an issue if that were part of the package.

Is the clutch new or used? How about the clutch housing? There should be a number cast onto the clutch housing that could be used to confirm. You mentioned no bolts in your other thread so was the flywheel a different purchase or flywheel and clutch or ....?

If you had the bolts that were intended to match the pressure plate you've bought and the flywheel they could be used I believe to ID maybe some of what you have. The clutch housing is important now I'd think. The disc should be OK for either.

I'd think it wise to maybe post any numbers that might be on any of the parts that you already have.

I do believe that if you had an LT5 pressure plate which has a heavier/thicker mass that if you had the "taller hat" bolts required you could use the pressure plate. I've never done it but I do believe it's likely. You could measure the height of the pressure plate mounting bolt flange to the flywheel surface to confirm. I don't recall the height difference but I do believe I've seen it and likely have it.

Here's a comparison of the "longs and shorts".

*** I believe the L98 pressure plate would have bolt mounting flange of something very near 1 3/16", an LT5 is something 1 5/16" or close to that, maybe slightly more.

The depth or height would ID but maybe better yet the casting number.

You might want to confirm the bell housing.

There were two types for the L98/LT1/LT4. The '89-'90 is aluminum and does not need any spacer/insulator plates. The '91-'96 is magnesium and needs those plates to make the correct spacing from the block.

(The magnesium one states "Magnesium" cast into the bellhousing rear face just to the right of the transmission.

Like WVZR-1 stated, if you can provide the casting numbers it would make it easier to tell what you have.

Good luck.
