I have a 92 coupe with a dealer installed keyless entry system. I only have one key-fob, so I bought another one at the auction site. It came with no directions, and the directions I googled didnt work (hold the lock switch down, then cycle the key off-on-off-on-off, etc.
Does anyone here have a similar system and/or directions to program the remote? The part number on the fob is GM P/N 12495653.
The current key-fob works great, opens/locks the doors, opens the hatch. I also have a '93 vert with the PKE system, which used to work great until I broke a tiny tab in the fob changing the battery. That's what made me want to have an extra fob for my '92.
If anyone has a 'dealer installation guide' or similar documentation on the dealer installed keyless system for '92 or earlier, I'd appreciate it!
Oh, well! I went to that site and put in my information, and they couldn't help me. I think it's because my remote was dealer installed, and not from the factory.
Depending on the production date of the kit used there would be different transmitters. The earlier kit used a 12332776 transmitter and is generally considered '85 - '91 (early), the later would have been a 12342698. It would have to have been a GM kit used for these to be confirmed.
You might try to find some VSS-100 remotes.
Is there an FCC ID on the FOB? That should get you an ID easily for whatever package a dealer might have used, GM or other.
