Default What does the AC controller look like?

I have got the panel under the drivers side off and I see a black box near the console side with different color tubes running into it and a blue connector on the back that I can't get to. Is this the AC controller? I want to clean the contacts to get it to blow out the correct vents. Can I pull off the connector with all the tubes going into it so that I can pull the box out and get to the other connector?

OK, I know it is the box, but I gave up trying to get it out. I took out the AC head unit out of the dash, took it apart and cleaned the contacts. I have checked the t-fittings under the valve covers and against the fire wall and they are OK. So I put everything back together and it still doesn't work. The blower blows, the controls work, but the air only come out of the defrost and foot vents. I shut the door and it starts blowing out the correct vents!!!!! This is how it does, some times it works, sometimes it doesn't. It can be lie this either way for days, then go over a bump or close the door hard and it blows out the correct vents!!

It has to be a bad connection right, but where? I have checked every connection I can find that I think has anything to do with the A/C. I whacked the black control box and the A/C head unit several times and it didn't have any affect, so I don't think it is in these.

Please help, it is a nagging problem I have had for 3-4 years and it is driving me crazy. It always seems not to work when it is hot/cold as hell out!

It sounds like you are looking at the controller. It has a wire plug connector on one side and several vac. tubes go in the other side. A lot of the underside of the dash has to come out to get to it. There is a paper in the tech tips section of the forum on how to fix it. If I remember right there are a couple of bad connectors that can be fixed easily.

I checked the article, but it seems more for the function of the head units buttons. Mine work fine and I already took it out and cleaned contacts. My problem is the vents won't change, like it is a vacuum leak, but it will come on going over a bump somtimes like it is an electrical connection.
