Default 700r4 speed sensor/gear issue

Hello,
I have a 86 c4 corvette with a 700r4, I recently replaced the transmission with another 700r4. My issue is that the new transmission came with a different plastic speed sensor gear than I previously had. I know they are simple to remove and install but the transmission is already back in the car. I didn't realize the gears where different. I think the gear that came with the new transmission is for an electronic VSS and my previous was gear driven. Does anyone think I could buy a proximity sensor for a earlier model c4 and it would work? I am unfamiliar with the gear and sensors. Will attach photos. Thanks

New 700r4 from Maddogtransmissions.

Old VSS plastic gear that I forgot to install until it was too late. Would it be more simple to convert?

You can remove the tail housing to get access to the speedo gear.

I know that, was just wondering if it was a pain in the @%# to convert to a proximity sensor style, I'm assuming that is what the gear is for. I am able to drop exhaust and disconnect Trans brace and remove tail hoising just would rather change a sensor if it is more simple. New sensor may not be comparable with 86 c4 software idk.

I believe that the suggestion to install the older correct hardware is maybe the best option.

I've never attempted to use a 40 pulse on an earlier 2000 pulse but I would imagine you would first need to use a GM DRAC to accomplish that conversion and then either reprogram that DRAC for ratio or use another DRA to correct the signal, probably the later.

I believe I understand the "how to" but I've absolutely no interest in doing the research.

The correct hardware is the "proper fix".

This is the DRAC that would be required I believe for the "first device" after the VSS.

For starters is the reluctor wheel even in the correct location for the -e VSS? Just makes more sense to do it the way it should have been done originally.

I've seen some interesting reads years ago when there was maybe more interest. There should be some good reads GOOGLING "GM DRAC PIN OUT.
