Im sorry I'm a corvette noob and just was wondering what would make, (what seems like) my entire driveline more around sometimes causing(get this) my crank pully to barely touch the beam directly in front of it when reversing and during braking, its a 1985 stock vette, 106,000 miles, just put a 90 vette transmission in it last night, shifts fine, drives decent but lots of driveline movement and noise, even sometimes when backing up when I brake I hear the crank pully hitting ?cradle? ? EVEN IN NEUTRAL while rolling slowly backwards..... beam direct in front.., im just trying to figure it out, sorry if this has been discussed somewhere else that I haven't found. Also the car was in a front end collision at some point but has been fixed. Thanks again for any help, slso I'm new to this forum so please be gracious Also does the 1985 have a transmission mount/crossmember?. Thanks!

Reason: forgot to ask a question.
Yes, the crank pulley (harmonic damper) is very close to the front crossmember. There's usually just enough room to be able to remove your serpentine belt! It sounds like you need new motor mounts.
I was going to say motor mounts as well, but then got to the part about a front end collision...mounts are the likely culprit, but have a good look underneath and make sure the frame isn't tweaked. Can't necessarily tell 100% with an inexperienced visual...but if something is visibly askew, at least you found it while parked.
Thanks guys I was hoping thats all it was, and my corvette is going to be a project/ handful so I will probably be asking more questions that I cannot find answers to, thanks again!
