I know this has been beaten to death, but does anyone have any of these discontinued kits lying around? I tried ordering one about a year ago and realized there were none to be had.
Also, I think I remember seeing blueprints or diagrams about how to fabricate the rod linkages yourself, it didn't look too hard. Does anyone have the specs or measurements?

Thanks in advance!
A friend of mine had if I remember rite had gotten a hold of 2 reverse arm linkages and put them in place of the longer 1/2&3/4 arms if I remember the only real problem's that came out of it was "A" it was a bit of a struggle to get the shift gates lined up properly, and the key to that is you have the Alignment wedge key that goes into the shiftier tower inside the car. The other thing was with less Leverage of the shorter arms the Effort to shift went up, but then again anyone who wants a Short Throw is not overly concerned with a few extra pounds needed to catch a gear.
I've heard that too, makes sense to me. Any ideas where to find some spare reverse linkages? I guess I could take mine off and try to duplicate it if worse comes to worse.

Without having the forward gear arms in hand I cant say for sure, but is there enough free space to drill the linkage hole closer to the pivot point on the existing arms. use the Reverse one as a template? and be very careful with getting the hole in the same place on each arm.
He may have tried the re-drilling way first and then wound up getting the reverse linkages,

I had the short shift on mine years ago when I still had the 4+3. (It went with the trans when I sold it to dan_t). The first time I installed it, it didin't shift well at all Put the stock shift arms back on and read up on the "alignment".
Found out that you really don't need the alignment pin the factory manual talks about. If you pull the console cover up and look down at the shifter base you can actually see the alignment slots. They should be even when the lever is in neutral IIRC. After you install the new arms you can jump back up to the shift tower/console and you can see the mis-alignment (of slots) that needs to be corrected. Crawl back under the car and adjust the linkage, then re-check your alignment slots. (This will take a few tries).
I've seen some shifter arms for Muncies and Borg Warners that have additional holes to reduce shifter travel. I didn't think the Hurst linkage kit for the 4+3 reduced the arm length that much, so I don't think you could simply re-drill the stock arms (unless you welded up the stock holes).
I still haven't heard from carls1957. My hopes have been dashed. Does anyone else have a short shift kit? Or does anyone have some extra reverse levers?
Thanks Carl! carls1957 really came through and sent me the short shift kit. (Last one on the planet?) It was apparently made in 2005 if that tells you anything.
I've attached a couple of pics on 1/4" graph paper so anyone who wants to replicate them might be able to. If anyone needs any additional pics or measurements, let me know fairly soon before I get a wild hair and install these!
