haha. ak, you have been a big help in my long thread as i have redoing the head gasket, machining the heads, lapping the valves, and lots of other stuff. Sorry if u r frustrated.

i did not send my injectors away. i tested them for leak and spray pattern and cleaned them. didnt notice the broken tip at the time.

i researched these tips and they serve as a protection for the tip. not much else. my new orings are nice and tight and i used a teeny bit of silicon (dielectric) grease on the rubber.

i put this one injector at cyl 1. we will see if it affects anything. doubt it based on the comparison.

also, im guessing the rim broke off when either I, or a previous owner, yanked the rail out.

my parts were all cleaned and etched with eagle1 aluminum cleaner and if that plastic ring was in there i have no cleue where it went.

anyway, we will see. if my problem with crap idle and hesitation persist, ill irder a new set of rebuilt injectors from john at fic.

note these are bosches, not multecs, as the 85 did not come with multecs (win!)

Joe, thanks so much for this link. I ordered a set!

if the OP is interested in a new service kit for his originals -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/V8-Fuel-Inje...0bIhkg&vxp=mtr

I have cleaned injectors in the past. fairly easy for the home shop - plenty of youtube videos showing the procedure.

BTW, I read that multec injectors manufactured after 1995 did not have the ethanol gas/coil issue.

It was an aluminum head L98 (it's now an L31-R with the aluminum heads and TPI on top, but that's another story)

There's no indication of when but SPO mentions (BOSCH) with "RP" LOGO for '85 1st design, some LUCAS in the mix '85 & '86 "CAV" LOGO and then another (BOSCH) "RP" LOGO for '86 and mentions 1st design. The LUCAS "CAV" mentions 2nd design. That always confused me.

The only reasonable thought was that "it was a mix" of vendors for both '85 & '86 with maybe the better performing in real life being considered the winner. An R & D project for the TPI. LOL

The same "mix" was also the same for F-bodies but of course the 305 got a lesser injector. I always thought 19lb vs. 22lb. Maybe?

Running great, in service as a daily driver now.

Still have a few minor bugs to work out, but overall I'm very happy.
