Rear Hubs loose
There is some play in the rear hubs on my 1996 C4.
Im not sure what needs replaced.
What do I ask the part store for: hub, bearings?

If you elect to replace - hub or bearing. The'll get it.
Buy a pair of these from the dealer if you decide to do the hub and bearing.

Make sure the play is in the wheel bearing (hub) and not just a loose or worn suspension part. It's easy to confuse them.

For what it's worth, I thought one of mine had play in it but torquing the axle nut to 160 ft-lbs fixed it.

160? really.... mine are torqued to 105.
Is 160 safe?

Rears get debated frequently - the spec' for rears is 164 lbft in nearly all later FSMs. Some say that's been increased in a TSB, I ain't ever seen it and I believe they're getting confused with a later generation TSB regarding rear hubs. Never looked.

All better.
New hubs had sealed bearing so no seals were needed.
