Someone has offered me a set of Comp Cams 1.6 roller rockers at a very good price. $0.00
Would you have to install new valve springs to use them in an LT1?
Would I gain anything using the stock heads?
What is a ballpark figure for having this installation done?
You'll probably need new springs. You'll need to modify your valve covers for them to fit properly. If these rockers are non self aligning you will need hardened pushrods and guide plates.
Power gain can be pretty good.
You're looking at a couple hundred bucks because of the springs, pushrods, and guide plates. I can't say how much it would cost to have somebody do it.

You'll only need new springs if the lift using the 1.6 rockers exceeds the current springs capacity. Its easy to calculate. The the existing lift (gross) divided by 1.5 (assuming you currently have 1.5 rockers) and then multiply by 1.6. Thats your new lift. Or, if you know your cam grind, simply multiply by 1.6. Check the catalog for you spring rating.
Not sure on the LT1 if you use self-aligning rockers or not. (i'm an L98 man).
But, you'll have to accomondate whatever the new rockers are. If you currently have self-aligning rockers and the new ones are self-aligning, then your good to go. Let me know what you have on the car and what kind of rockers your getting.
The gain will be smoother valve train operation, much less friction, lower oil temps and a couple of hp - even on stock heads. Well worth what you'll have to spend putting them in considering you got them for nothing.
