A thread over in C4 general made me think of something and I'm wondering if anyone has heard of it or has any comments about it.
In the Turbo Buick crowd it's very popular to run alcohol injection systems... gives them the ability to run upwards of 23 lbs of boost with pump gas and the systems are pretty cheap.
What would the effect of the alcohol be if you were spraying nitrous at the same time? The alcohol cools the cylinder temps down quite a bit...
Re: Alcohol injection with Nitrous? (Springer's 95)
Alcohol and Nitrous do not cool down cylinder temp it cools the fuel and air that goes in to the engine.
Lot of people with roots superchargers use nitrous to cool down the F/A befor it goes into the engine, they use it becaus you can't get intercoolers for them, the more you can cool down the F/A before it goes in the more power you will get out of it.
That is why a plate system hits harder then a fogger system, because the plate system cools down all the air in the intake but the foggers are so close to the valve that it does not have time to cool it as much.
Indy car engines used a extra injector to spray in fuel in to the turbo to cool down the F/A befor it went in to the engine because they cant use a intercooler.
