Default '85 part mystery

I'm getting my '85 Lingenfelter ready for the Museum and running down an small oil drip. The part pictured below is directly above the oil filter mount and the oil drip shows as a drop of oil on the bottom of the oil filter. What puzzles me is the part is plastic and "modern" oil senders are metal. The location doesn't show up in my FSM as my 638 block is what Lingenfelter was using at the time and hence non-standard. Any help would be appreciated. John

Oil temp switch ! Should be no problem, might be leaking through the terminal. Service part is no problem.

Thanks a million. I assumed that was what it was but baffled by it being plastic. It must be the original. John
