Throttle performance switch, from MAD, anyone tried this , does it really work? TIA to all supposed to increase max, fuel, timing, and throttle response.
I bought one from MAD. Everytime i did a WOT, it gave me a code error. I can't remember the number, but i think it was a throttle position switch error. Mad sent me another one, but same problem. I even replaced the TPS but the problem followed the performance switch. They were nice and gave me a refund no problems, but it's a piece of crap.
Had one on my 88. Did'nt notice anything. Took it off, adjusted my my tps voltage properly, and now it has better throttle response. I put the switch on again just to see and still does nothing. My advice, manually set up your tps and will will perform better at both idle and wot. I just wish a year ago I new what I know now when I bought the switch. I would'nt even sell it to someone. I'd be ripping them off. :chevy
It was in corvette fever on an 84. On a stock 84 I think they got 12ft/lbs of torque. But they said if your car is modified you might get different results. I put one on my car because the 84 needs all the help it can get. I notice it would feel like it was at wide open at about 80% throttle. I hope it helps It can't hurt. I hope these magazines are not lying to us to keep there adds in there magazines.
Odd.. It's not supposed to be able to give you more HP/TQ, but fool the computer into thinking you are at WOT at lower throttle.. Just FLOOR the car and be done with it..
Think about this? When you hit the gas 75% you should have around 75% power (let's just use that as a reference). With the performance switch on it fakes the ecm to wide open throttle at 75%. So to a point their correct. At 75% gas you would have more power than without the switch. It's just a matter of how you look at it I guess. And that's how they back up their estimated gains. So without the switch you have to push the pedal all the way down to get 100% w.o.t. Pretty slick huh?
