Default small cap distributor

hey people,

with my miniram on my 89 the large cap distributor is tight, is the small cap {I believe they are on TPI Camaros?) a direct swap? I obviously know i have to buy an external coil. also would it be easier to also swap in an MSD box when doing this if I do have to cut up the harness.

I believe there's a plug adapter you need to buy. If your cam is factory make sure it has a melonized gear.

Exactly why are we doing this?

If you are dead set on it, I would talk to Mike Noonan of EFI Connection. They make up the harnesses for this.

It is cheaper getting the kit from eBay. HOWEVER, the ends of it (Items 789 & 790) are set up for the factory GM coil so unless you get the one for the 3rd Gen F-body, where it has 4 terminals to plug into, you will also need THIS. You will cut off the rectangular part and hook it to the gray connector and black connector which is the 789 and 790 and the wires go to the coil

So why do you think you need a box or even the distributor? I haven't looked at it but does the Miniram mandate the small cap? IDK. I know the HSR does which is why I changed to an MSD 8366 and the MSD Blaster 3 coil

I went to pick-n-pull and got the wiring I needed off of a TPI Camaro. If you use the MSD box be sure to buy the adapter so it is easy to remove when it doesn't work.

I have a mini ram on my car. I used the large cap distributor for a short time. You have limited movement of the distributor. I installed the MSD distributor and coil. I also am using a ignition because I am supercharged and use it for a RPM limiter.

Your tuner can limit the RPM also. FYI
