fixed broken tab > fuel sender case
Before ordering a new FBP, (this one has few miles), I pulled the assembly from the tank. Quite apparent, was the fuel sender flopping about, as 1 of 3 tabs had broken off, after a couple repairs on the sender. That cover is metal, as has a pivot hole for the float shaft.
Ran 12vdc to the pump, which promptly shot fresh gasoline onto my pants! Okay, you work, lil pal.
After considering small sheet meal screws to hold that cover in place, I opted for safety wires, requiring smaller holes and would not loosen.
3 safety wires hold sender cap in place, due to loss of opposing locker tab (top, this pic).
Look closely at the soldered connection on the pink wire (right) to see small hole with one of three wires. there is another on the left side, barely visible and the central wire as insurance and extra strength. All added wires allow free and full movement of the float lever, are easily clipped for disassembly and utilize an existing holes in the mated housing piece.
New, small holes before deburring.
Existing holes for safety wire to slip through.
That U-shaped device at the top, is the slider for the quantity sender; rubbing across the wire-wound resistor, varying the voltage to the quantity gauge; winding visible in a prior pic.
Reinstalled the relay and FP assy. Car cranked and fired after FP built up. Yaay!
